Hello,
I'm new to the site and need some help.
Doing a complete restoration on a 1981 Scrambler. Have a broken Tab on the Transmission Mount and can't find what it's for and what it looks like.
I can repair it or make a new one but need to install it soon.
Thanks,thebullView attachment 17574

Looks like something not OEM that was added on. My guess would be a hanger for a tail pipe / muffer. Rod

Sure doesn't look OEM to me either.
Can you post a picture of how it looks in place?

It's OEM, can't find a picture of a mount like this anywhere. I might have to just continue with the re-assembly and see if the answerView attachment 17584 presents itself.

Reason I say a mufler or tail pipe hanger is because I have one on mine. But I also though it was added and not OEM. Rod

My '85 does not, nor have I ever seen that extra tab.
Wonder if that was to hold the speed-O cable????:confused:
Exhaust hanger is also a good possibility.

the mount itself is oem but that tab is something someone welded on there. The thing about these jeeps is that just because something was bolted up a certain way when you took it apart does not mean that it was the way it was done OEM. Plenty of people have molested the Jeep before we get to them usually.

Remove that tab and forget it ever existed.

I'm positive the tab is OEM, my Parents bought two identical Scramblers almost new. I have one and my Brother has the other in Alaska, I'll get him to look at it.

Then it must be for an exhaust hanger or something. Was it attached to anything when you removed it?

I think Grits is correct, speedo. In the right place and found a wear mark on the Cable, clamp and broken bracket are not there. PB can you post a picture of yours, trying to restore to showroom condition. theBull
