Transmission swaps

I have an extra T-176 Transmission , my brother has an 81 CJ5 with GM 151 and a bad SR4 Transmission . My question is will the two swap out?

Hopefully some one will come along soon. Newer CJs are not my forte...

Yes and no.

The 300 will bolt up to the T-176 easily.

The bell housing will have to be re drilled for the t 176 bolt pattern. Some of the bell housings did have markings for a T 176, just not drilled though.

The drive shafts will probably have to be shortened/lengthened. The 176 is shorter than the SR4 . Here is a list of drive shaft lengths. Drive Shaft Length - JeepForum.com

The skid plate should have 3 sets of bolt holes, one of which will fit.

The T-176 is an easy rebuild. Easier than the SR4 .
