It's just an open breather, there is no valving.

some of the ends have a piece of plastic in them that rattles if you shake it. It just sets in it's sleeve to keep dirt out but if pressure builds in the diff it opens to let it breath. But as CJ said it's not really a valve.

I thought it was a breather just wanted to make sure thanks
