I have a 76 CJ5 , all the lights works well even the turn signals, until I turn on the headlights, then the rear signals won't work, the tail lights do but no blinkers but the fronts still flash, I ran new grounds, tried several different lights, thinking it might might be a voltage drop due to bad connections I ran a wire from the column plug directly to the light and then the front stopped working as well.. any thoughts?

I would suggest getting a wiring diagram to trace down those issues. Sometimes pulling fuses one at a time and testing can help find problems too. For the turn signal problem, you might try a new flasher as a thought.

I've got a schematic that I'm going by, the flasher is my next step, all of the wiring for the rear is new. I thought is was isolated to the rear but after I ran a jumper from the turn signal plug directly to the tail light and then the front stopped flashing I'm not so sure..

Try removing the tail light lens. Turn on the hazards and parking lights. Look at one light and check the light filaments. If the power wires are wired wrong (crossed) you will see the weaker filament flashing and the brighter filament a constant light (parking). Parking is too bright so you can't see the hazards. Switch power wires in each rear sockets.

If the lights have plugs, Turn parking lights and hazards on. Unplug a light and use a test light. Parking is a steady light, turn signal is flashing. You should have this.

I'm thinking either its a bad ground, dual filament or bulb is blown, or bad wiring. Not 100% positive though. Good luck. :p

Have you recently replaced the rear bulbs if so then you may have put a single filament in replace of the dual filament?

Shouldn't be the flashers if the front ones are blinking. Do the hazards work if so then its probably not flashers unless you have a separate flasher for the rear and the front but I've never heard of that before

If you've replaced your stock light bulbs with LEDs it could be that they are lower grade LEDs and can't handle the load I have done this before and once I took out the LEDs and reinstalled stock bulbs everything worked fine
