Voltage Regulator Question

I'm starting the process of rewiring my '73 CJ5 and realized that there is not a voltage regulator wired up. Is there any reason not to have one? My problem is that I've got a '73 body, '84 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , and god knows what other modifications the PO(s) have done over the past 38 years. BTW, the distributor is an DUI if that helps. Thanks!

It looks like I've got a one-wire alternator so that may answer my question...I think.

The voltage regulator is either in the alternator or should be wired to the altenator

I'm guessing mine is internal.

Yes you have an enternal electronic voltage regulator makes things simpler

If it is a Delco type aleternator, then it is an internal regulator.

I got the thing to crank over for the first after a few months of being down so I'm pretty happy and confident everything is hooked-up properly.....for now.
