Couple years ago I sealed some plates on my Dana 300 Transfer Case , and the gasket on my TF999 pan with Prime Seal Aviation Gasket sealer. I posted a picture here, and how easy it was to work with.
I take it all back! The sealant shrank and created a leak, and when I pulled it down today the Prime Seal was as hard as fired clay. I sanded the lip of the tranny pan before putting on a new gasket. I'm allowing the blue silicone gasket material to cure for 48 hours with just enough bolt pressure to get it really flat. I'll torque down the bolts to spec on Saturday and replace the Transmission oil I drained.
