I've read a lot of the posts on welding the tubes on the AMC20 . What I have not found is what wire or rods everyone is using to weld the tubes with. The chunks as far as I can tell are pot metal and the tubes are mild steel. I just bought a wire machine set up with solid wire and 75/25 but also have access to stick machines.

Skip weld with a 'mud-rod'(60-13)for arc.
Pre-heat the cast iron a good bit before burn'n.
I have also used wire feed with .035 flux-core.

I believe I read to use a rod high in nickel. I had a professional do mine but not sure what he used. I had him put 3 welds about 1.5" long spaced around the diameter. One of those also tying to the truss.

yes,if it is cast iron you need a rod with high nickel content

I welded mine with 7014 x 3/16. I tried to use nickel rod and it didn't work very good for me. Do pre heat before welding and stitch weld. I also welded on a truss at the same time.
