I just picked up a driveable 73 CJ5 with a so-so body and a 75 replacement tub that is very solid. I am debating on whether to use the 75 tub as a replacement for my 78 which is rough but I drive regularly or swap the 75 onto the 73. I think patching the 73 would be easier as the panels are pretty flat where the rust is but I'm not sure what mods I will need to do, if any, to get the 75 on the 78 frame. I like the idea of keeping the 73 tub just because of the tool box under the seat and the fact that it will be different enough from my 78 for my daughter to feel hers is unique (this will be a project for her and I to work on together, gotta love a Jeep girl in training:D).

So, anyone have pros or cons for each? Recommendations?

BTW I have a "fair" amount of fabricating skills so I'm not too worried about some body or frame modification but I believe in the K.I.S.S. method.

I figured it out. It turns out that the guy selling it had the year wrong. It is a 76 so that answers my question. I didn't pay close enough attention to the pics he sent.
