I have a 1965 cj-5 with the original 4cyl engine, t-90 traney and dana 18 transfer case. it has a 3" lift and was an air force jeep.
I have had a whistling sound coming from the distributer cap for the last month on my F134 Hurricane . Last weekend I replaced the points, condencer, Rotor and cap. For the first day all was quiet, then the sound came back. It now mostly happens when i take my foot off the gas or am idling. Any ideas?

I would say vacuum leak but if it got better with the parts you replaced I am not sure. Put a hand vacuum pump on the distributor hose and see if it will hold a vacuum not running.

A few more details. It starts after the engine has been running for about 10 minutes. It can start or stop if I hit a pothole or a bigger bump in the road. It goes away when excelerating. It sounds like a squeak y belt.

Bearing in the dizzy is die'n.

Is that baring in the rotor shaft that comes out of the engine?

CK for up/down and side to side play in the rotor shaft. There should be none.
