window frame problem

hi folks,i just started here so I don't know if this has already been covered,
I have a 76 CJ7 all stock hardtop solid doors. problem is I ordered a new windshield frame, [ old one was rusted out, imagine that]. the new one came from crown,by this time I had stupidly tossed the old frame{ I never throw anything away except this time} the new has a bigger glass opening than the old one and doesn't tilt back far enough to reach the top,figured they sent the wrong one ordered another one , same thing. I think this is an early 76, could the factory have used a 75 CJ5 frame? I'm at a loss and I really wished I hadn't thrown the old one away before the new one came. {don't ever do that}

In 1976 the WS Frame is wider and tilts back more and different glass, either they sent wrong or are making wrong. You need to talk to who ever you are buying from, and let them know what is the problem. 1976-1986 CJ.

Lets ask a few simple questions to help you out.

Was the wiper motor on the inside or outside of the frame? OR was there a large bulge on the outer lower left side of the frame?

Was there turn knobs that you unscrewed in the lower corners that you unscrewed to lower the frame onto the hood OR did you unlatch a quick release latch or buckle closer to the steering wheel?
