What you need is known as "potting compound", meant to seal junction blocks, bulkhead fittings and such. Dielectric grease on the connection side as well.

Is there a way to retard the pace of corrosion of these connection points in the wet weather?

Can I spray di-electric grease in the holes, or will I just be sorry some time down the road?

PS: I did read http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f7/how-do-you-water-proof-your-electrical-14689/ but I got lost.

Jon, I use a product called "Automotive GOOP" [there's Plumbing GOOP and several more variants]. It is made by Eclectic Products, Inc of Pineville, Louisiana 71360. It is a tough, stretchable sealant or glue, depending on your need. I buy it in almost any local HDW store here in the South. I promise you no water will get through it, and if applied carefully, no water or other fluid will get past it.

Tina Turner in "PROUD MARY" could have just as well have said, "There's just one thang... we nevah evah do anything nice and easy when working on our CJ!"

That's the stuff, JD. I have a new tube not 4 days old that will seal and attach the rubber rain seal to the top of my windshield. No more water blowing under the softtop corroding all the dash wiring and gauges.

I have the same stuff gluing a piece of foam insulation to the top of each valve cover as standoffs for the spark plug wires. Same goop insulates the wiring connectors on my boat trailer where repeated salt water immersion would soon dissolve the wires.

As best I can tell, the stuff never hardens and cracks like some other insulating material.
