drivetrain

A drivetrain (also frequently spelled as drive train or sometimes drive-train) or Transmission System, is the group of components that deliver mechanical power from the prime mover to the driven components. In automotive engineering, the drivetrain is the components of a motor vehicle that deliver power to the drive wheels. This excludes the engine or motor that generates the power. In marine applications, the drive shaft will drive a propeller, thruster, or waterjet rather than a drive axle, while the actual engine might be similar to an automotive engine. Other machinery, equipment and vehicles may also use a drivetrain to deliver power from the engine(s) to the driven components.
In contrast, the powertrain is considered to include both the engine and/or motor(s) as well as the drivetrain.

    Diff 1983 cj7 258, t5, axle ratio question

    Is there a way to tell the axle ratio for a 1983 cj7? I am looking to purchase one and the owner doesn't know and doesn't have access to the axle stamp. It has a 258 and t5 trans and I think it most likely is all original. thanks

    Trans Transmission for my CJ7

    I have a 1979 CJ7 258L with the T150 transmission and the Dana 20 transfer case. The transfer case is shot, so I plan to replace it with a Dana 300. I'm also considering an automatic transmission. Looking for recommendations for the best auto to put into it and best practices/pitfalls. thanks

    Trans 4 speed trans identifying

    I have a CJ7. I think I have a T176 trans, given that the stick comes up at an angle and it’s a 4 speed with reverse down on the passenger side. It has a tag on the right side with the numbers 5359390 RHLK3 1142 Is this enough info to determine which trans I have? Thanks
