Electrical 12v to 5v resistor strap (Water Temp)

New to the forum. Working on my second jeep. The fuel nor the water temp gauges are working. Upon inspection the resistor or regulator strap that should go from the fuel gauge to the temp gauge is missing.
1. Any thoughts on where I can get one of these?
2. Would this resistance have any impact on the fuel gauge not working. It is getting power I believe as it pegs to full. The jeep has a new tank and sending unit. Hoping not to have to drop the tank to check the ground.

What year is your Jeep ?
That strap should just be for carrying the reduced voltage from one gauge to the other.
The voltage regulator is built into one of the gauges; I believe that was the temp gauge, but I could be wrong.
The fuel sending unit wire should show pulsating indications if the regulator is working correctly.
What I recall anyways.
