I have a 1960s jeep. Not sure what exact year. I want to use the engine, tranny, front and rear ends of a 1986 chevy k1500 in my jeep is it possible to do so? Please help
Anything's possible, it's going to depend on how deep your pocket book is, how good your welding skills are and how much time you have.
The engine and tranny should fit, SHOULD fit, the issue is going to be Transfer Case and driveline angles.
The axles are going to be A LOT wider than the old CJ axles without a doubt, which means your going to have to completely fabricate spring perches, shock mounts, etc, etc, etc. Plus you're also going to have to basically build your own steering linkage.
But, it probably can be done, I'm sure someone out there has done it, or something very similar.
i have axcess to some pretty jam up welders that will help me for free. they make motor mount adapters for this and. im sure my buddies and i could come up with a desing on the suspension problems. im also in a welding class in high school and my instructor could help us piece things together and the autos shop is right next door so im sure we could come up with some designs thay will work. thanks for youe help.
