- 1966 CJ6A Tuxedo Park Mark IV. TBI Chevy 350, 700R4 trans, 231 Transfer. Waggy/Chevy/Ford dana 44 front axle and a ford 8.8 rear axle.
Hey Guys I finally found Time to post up my build thread. I have been working on this since 2009. I put it off for a year to build a CJ5 for a friend then went a few years with out a job so she has been collecting dust since. I had originally plan to build it with everything that I want to do to it all at once, but I am tired of her sitting around and she is just begging to get out and be driven. So I am going to use parts that I have collected over the years and I am hoping to at least get her drivable this summer and continue to upgrade as time goes on.
Its a 1966 CJ6A Tuxedo Park park mark IV. I picked it up for $400 bucks. No engine Transmission or transfer. The original frame needed a lot of work so I scrapped it and built my own for cheaper than the cost of repairing and beefing it up. I also made the frame longer and wider than the original. The only thing that I kept was the tub and hood. The fenders windshield frame and grille had more rust than I wanted to deal with, but the tub was in really good shape. The rust in the pictures is just surface rust. The previous owner had started to sand the body but never finished.
Specs as of now are 3.5 BDS YJ springs, custom shackles, 8.8 in the rear, Dana 44 in the front, GM 305/700R4/NP231 for the drive train. Everything was positioned so I can run a flat belly pan. To do this I had to move the fire wall back 2.75" and the tranny tunnel up 3.5". My original plans were to use a TBI 350 instead of the 305 and run a HP ford Dana 60 in the front and a GM 14 bolt in the rear. They will find their way there in the future.
I will be using Mastercraft Baja RS seats to keep me in place on and offroad. I decided to put the longer front clip on it for better clearance between the radiator and engine. I threw on my buddies 41" IROKS just to see what it would look like.
Since these photos where older taken I had to move and my jeep sat longer. I started a new job at the beginning of the year and have added a windshield and some cheap 35s. The following pics were taken last week.
I will try to keep this updated as I keep working on it.
