am new to this forum and recently aquired a 1972 CJ5 . i am in the process of changing the manual steering box, and wanted to upgrade the front bracket to a stronger piece. was looking at this, and was wondering if this can be modified to fit my jeep. mine is a 1972 CJ5 and this is listed for a 1976 and up. Sam's Offroad Steering Box Review by Outdoor Wire . i'm thinking the manual steering box is the same in these year jeeps so can i make this work???? looks like a high quality strong piece. any help would be appreciated. and if this won't work does anyone know who fabricates a piece that would fit my jeep????please help me get this thing safe to drive!!!!

The 72 - 75 steering box bracket is a pretty solid piece unlike the 76 and up thin stamped steel one. That is why you see upgrade brackets for those years but not for yours. On my 72 it has worked for years and never been a problem. Is there a problem with the bracket you have?
