First let me thank those who have established this site as it seems to contain alot of valuable resources.
That said, I recently purchased a 73cj5. The drive train looks to be pretty much stock with the Dana 44 rear, Dana 30 front, T-15 3speed, Dana 20 Transfer Case . The tub and hood are fiberglass. All 4 wheels have drums. I am considering several would be improvements:
1) hard top or soft top
2) front disc brakes
3) 15 gallon fuel tank (currently has a 4 gal alum cell)
4) the header tube on the AMC 304 is dented to allow steering shaft movement so im looking at shorties or in frame style headers.
I have found an 80’ CJ5 as a potential parts vehicle as it has much of whats needed to upgrade as mentioned. However it is in pretty bad condition. The hard top appears to be ok.
Without reading the conversion bible, how much or how little of the 80cj would fit onto my 73?
Thanks in advance for any input on this process.
