I think I will be replacing my power steering box on a 1975 CJ5 . Is a CJ5 1976 - 1986 compatible with my 1975? Thanks.

I dont think so.
The early ones have a flared hose end, and the newer ones have an O-ring style end on the hoses.
You can swap out the hoses for the newer ones if you need to use one, its just more of a PITA.
As for the box mounting up, sure it will fit.
Remember these same boxes were used in a lot of different Jeeps (including hte J series trucks) and are originally off the Chevrolet parts room shelf...opening up a lot of options for you.

If you want to improve your steering while you are swapping out the box, get a variable ratio box off a J-series truck. It will tighten up your steering at higher speeds and make it easier to turn when at slow speeds.
I have one from PSC motorsports, and I really like it.
