Just bought a 1975 CJ5 and the leaf springs are all most to the stops. Has anyone upgraded to a wider spring? i am putting 31 x 10.5 tires on it. i would take any advice. I am just a newbie.

1975 Jeep CJ-5. mostly stock 304 with a few ignition system upgrades, carb, and headers. Stock front and rear diffs, xfer case and xmsn. 6 inch lift on 35x12.50's.
The wider springs such as the YJ springs are 2.5 inches wide. It can be done it is just more in depth than just replacing with the stock width springs. I did the YJ spring swap on my 75 but I was also building a custom frame. You would require the springs of course, Spring hanger, Shackle hanger, spring perches and U bolt plates. I ordered all mine from WFO concepts. This path is way more invasive than the simple spring swap. The Idea is a wider spring has more surface area thus providing a smoother ride. But lets be honest you bought a 75 CJ5 not a caddy.
Oh and I can't tell you if they do ride smoother or not as mine is not on the road yet.
