OK Folks I am two weeks in to my 1976 CJ7 Resto project. I am about two years behind on the start date, but my baby boy arrived in 2011 and I broke my leg in 2013, so the old saying of better late than never applies.

I would not say that this is a restoration, but more of a rebuild. It will be close to original, but not a true restoration. I plan to have it back on the road this year, but you know what they say about a plan.

The end product will be a 1976 CJ7 QT, 4" Sup Lift, 1" Body Lift, 33x13.50x18s, custom fabed dash, bumpers, and cage, new/rebuilt AMC 304 , GM Turbo 400 , Dana 30 (FR), Dana 44 (R) and all new sup and bushings.

I will keep you all up to date on the progress.

As of las tnight:

Stage 1 (Tairdown)

OK Guys,

Tuesday this week was a big day for the CJ.

Tuesday morning my daughter and I took the tub and body parts to the sand blaster and got busy pulling the motor, Transmission , and Transfer Case .

Motor is at the rebuild shop and the Transmission and Transfer Case will be at the Shop tomorrow.

Looks like yall are having a great time with it. Keep it up, and in no time you will be so flooded with options your head will spin!:chug:

I told my wife that the Big parts would happen fast (Paint, Motor, Transmission & Transfer Case , Frame, and Sup), but the small stuff will take forever!!! My goal is to make Jeep Fest this July in Denver, but I don't think I have enough time. If not this year, we always have next year!

Take your time and get it the way you want it now. Better than re-doing work later. Read and look at pics here, it has helped me a lot!:chug:

OK Guys and Gals,

I know it has been a wail on the updates, but life happens.

The tairdown was a success and most of the parts are at the needed shops for repair and refinishing.... I got the frame back from the powder coaters a few weeks back and it is comming together nicely.

I will update again soon.... Waiting to get the rearend back to make her a roller again. The Body "should" be back from paint by the end of the month.

Take Care,
Mike

I just got a 1976 CJ7 myself. I know it is stock. It has the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6 and it is an automatic . I am not sure what the stock differentials would be. Any information would be appreciated.
