1978 232 engine info

I, just got my 78 CJ5 running and drivable, with new gauges, complete new electrical system, rebuilt the carb, and new front axle. was wondering what the rpm range is for the 3.8L AMC 232 i6 . If the fuel pump from the v8 AMC 304 will fit?

Your power band will be found between 2000 and 3000 RPMs. the fuel pump is a ford fuel pump , I think and the one from the AMC 304 may work but why would you not want to replace it with the one it calls for? I don't think it will set you back a lot and it should not be an endangered species.

alright i will look into a new one. so the red line is 3000?

usable power is from 1000 to 2500, 4000 is pretty much screaming.
