Build Thread 1979 cj5 build

New member here. My name is Brian and I live in southwest Florida. I just bought a 1979 CJ5 for fun and island driving. My wife went and picked it up in Naples while I was at work. It's camo spray bombed at the preset time. I have ordered tube fenders for it, new grille, and rocker guards. It's got quite a bit of rust Expecially in the rear frame.. I think I'll need to either find another frame or do a lot of patching and welding. I'll post pictures here soon when I figure out how. Any advice and help would be greatfully accepted.

I don't know if i should attempt to fix this.. I'll look around for a frame for now and take my time on the decision

I've seen alot of guys fix them, it maybe hard to find a good frame.

Anything can be fixed but to much rust just has a way of producing greater diminished returns.................you cannot weld to rusty material especially when it has been attacked like some of what I see............the option is to see how far back either front or rear you have to go to find strong stable material to attache your new metal to. If the frame has issues everywhere then it may be time to look............. In either case then figure out what your time is worth including buying the pre-fabed pieces for either end...........Good frames may be hard to find on the East Coast , but they do come up from time to time..........I would be looking maybe in Texas or the southwest for less rust.
