1981 Jeep CJ5 4.2 driving me NUTS
JeeperCreeper
Jeeper
Okay, here is the rundown...
Jeep was firing, running, everything was beautiful. Then, it stopped firing...
In my troubleshooting, I pulled a spark plug and it had evidence of water in the gas on the plug. I pulled the distributor cap and the rotor was busted. Whatever happened to cause it to stop firing also busted the rotor.
***** I replaced: Plugs, Wires, Distributor, Coil, Fuel Filter, Rebuilt the "Fool Injected" Carter BBD, ended up replacing the fuel tank with a new one (completely rusted out inside, so I am sure it wasn't doing my system any favors). Since I was spending money already, I went ahead and replaced control modules...I now have 12k in a jeep that looks great but only in my garage. Almost forgot, I went ahead and replaced the starter and the alternator since my knuckles were already bleeding.
*******
Now, I have fire coming from the Coil, but none coming from Plug when I test.
I changed out the fuses, even...and I am at a standstill. The last thing I want to do is take it to an automotive electrical specialist and spend whats left of my <-BAD WORD-> getting him to figure it out. Thought before I did that, someone out there had the same problem or could help me figure it out.
Thanks...
