First off lets start off with what is already on the plate. A 1982 CJ7 maroon with an amc 360 T-18 Dana 20 setup.

It has a 2.5 lift with 2in body lift( not a huge fan of the body)

I recently decided to tear her down due to lack of a few thing such as no heat poor wiring and typical tub rot

I will post pictures very heavily in my thread

Well i started a few weeks back tearing it down so this is where i am at, jeep parts sure do add up quickly

I believe i should address the atrocious paint job on the jeep haha, well lets just say i saw some rust and wanted to see how bondo worked and i wanted to see what silver looks like

As you can see there is extensive amounts of bondo on this jeep oh boy.

My plan is to buy the new side panels and have an autobody friend put them on.

As of right now im waiting on a bushing kit for my leaf springs so i can put my axles under the frame so i can shoot a final coat of paint and start running brake lines.

Just some shots of her before the surgery

I cannot wait for more meaning full progress like yanking her heart

Keep the pics coming!! And may I offer a word of caution? If you have the urge to repainted ANYTHING you pull prior to reinstalling - think long and hard about that. Once you do that to one thing, ya kinda have to do the rest - ask me what that does to your schedule!! I kinda wish now I would have just swapped everything over to the new frame and put it back on the road - I'd probably have another 10k on the odometer if I had..... LOL

Man i am feeling the urge but as of the minute its not over ruling me. However my friend keeps telling me about how we should paint the engine.

Im trying to not rush it i want to do all i can to get it mechanically good , but man i miss driving her up through the western mass hilltowns

THX for the pictures and details.
May I strongly suggest a full cage build. The windshield frame is worthless and folds inward on the driver and passenger.

Good luck on the project.

........... However my friend keeps telling me about how we should paint the engine.

So long as he honors the "we" in that.... Once that engines gets new paint, imagine what it would look like with everything else under the hood as is. I'm with him, but then again, misery loves company... LOL. I miss not driving mine, but now I'm glad I went insane and did what I did. I'm just about ready for final primer coat and the anticipation is killing me.

GO FOR IT

(would a couple pics help push you over the edge??)

Honestly im all for it its just a matter of doing it, i keep reminding my self to try and get all the difficult stuff done now tub paint etc.

a lift and tires is in the future and is much easier to work on right

Hey, my neck really hurts, you gotta find a way to straighten out your pictures! :poke:

I got some more work done seems like better progress this time thank God.

I was able to get the front axle "mocked up" so it can be painted with the frame.

Then i pulled the rear axle out from under the jeep and started putting it on the new frame. I have the ffront shackle bolts in place but have stopped for the night
