Looking for a concrete answer on this, as I haven't been able to find one. My CJ5 has floor mount provisions behind the front seats for the rollbar, and the rear mounts to the wheelwell. The CJ7 bar looks like it will fit, but being off the Jeep it's hard to tell. Curious to know before I go to the trouble of picking it up whether or not it's a direct fit. Does anyone know?
 
Yes it should fit. Also the roll bars from yj's will fit also. I think up to 92 is the standard sport style and 93+ uses the family style for the rear. Also you should be able to pick one up for less then $100 with the normal average price being $50 to free. I gave away 3 of them a few months ago.

Thanks for the update! I've been searching high and low for a YJ bar around here, but they're as rare as bigfoot.
 
Careful now. The CJ5 has a shallower body than the CJ7 . The roll bars sure look the same, but the body being different heights might make a direct swap difficult. But I bet it could b done with a little cutting and welding.
 
Yup.. I missed the CJ5 part. I think there is a dimension difference for the roll bars between the 2
 
Well, there certainly is a difference between the two, and I hope this helps anyone looking to do this in the future. The gold one is the CJ5 bar, the black one the CJ7 bar.

If you are worried about the area's where the cage was removed, don't. Get a 41/2" angle grinder and a couple grits of flap wheels. Use ~60-80 grit to move metal then switch to 120 to polish. You will be amazed at how nicely the repair will turn out. I did mine and it was MUCH worse than yours. Mine had cutting wheel gouges, lots of poor welding slag and holes. After welding up the holes and adding material where the cut off wheel dug to deep the grinder and flap wheels made short work of making the bar look as good as new. You were going to need to repaint anyways.
