looking for companies that carry conversion parts to drop a 350 into a cj, and all i have found searching on here and google is Novak Conversions.

i try not to be an impulse buyer and like to shop for a few weeks/months before jumping into something, but i cant find any competitors.

any direction is appreciated

Ok. So I guess I was on the right track, and looks like they are pretty squared away on the swaps. Went through looking at everything I'm gonna need and ran about $1600. Not to bad, a lil mOre than I was hoping to spend. But lucky for me, I've already got a turbo 350 mated to the xfer case so that saves me an extra $500

Mountain Off-Road Enterprises bolt in mounts, without fabricating your own and taking measurements of where things should go this is it. Their Bomb-Proof motor mounts are super strong if you aren't going to engineer your own. After several V8 conversions, these are really the ONLY mounts I use any more if I don't make them myself.

A SBC in a cj? OMG! That's sacrilege!

Jeep used GM engines many times throughout their colourful history..... Consider the SBC gen I/II or better yet III/IV (LSx) conversion the zenith in evolution of the species.

Oh how much I would love to drop an ls 5.7 in, or better yet a 6.0, but I think that's a lil overkill. The main reason I wanna go with a 350 is I already have the engine, all bracketry and accessories and my jeep already has a 350 tranny adapted to the AMC 304 and Dana 300 . And plus while my cousin had the jeep, he left the engine settin out all winter and just so happened to get 3' of snow that week so either rebuild or replace and get more go power

Oh rick, do you have a link for the mountain offroad enterprise?

Thanks old dog. I'll check there and see how competitive their prices are compared to novak

Well what if I just decided to sell it altogether like it is? What would it be worth?

Why sell it man? Throw the 350 in it and enjoy the hell out of it. I love mine, I sold it once and regretted it ever since, and finally got it back a couple months ago, and couldn't dream of selling it again. So I say keep it, finish it, drive the damn wheels off it, and weld 'em back on and go some more.

Well I also have an xj that I'm workin on and my baby (cummins) my wife likes the xj better because she doesn't like all the wind noise from the cj. But I have no clue what these are worth, traded a powerstroke for it. But out of curiousity, what would it be worth?

You'll regret selling the CJ when on a warm summer day you see one pass by with the top down and a grin from ear-to-ear on the driver......... Fair warning!

Not sure about around you, but here a project jeep won't get you much, but than they are usually rusted out around here.
Unfortunatly you can never sell them for what you have invested in them either.
Keep it for the nice sunny, top down days.:chug:

Well if I started out at 5k would that be too much? The hull is in excellent condition, no rust or if there is very minimal and I haven't found it, and no dents. Does need paint, looks like it was yellow at sometime. So am I in a good vacinity or too high or low

Around here in order to get 5k out of a Jeep it better be damn near perfect. If it needs paint/body work, and the usual knobs, switches, and other whatnot to make them useful for daily driving you're lucky to get 3k here. Down there it might be a whole different story, people may pay more for Jeeps, who knows.

I'd advertise it at a little above what you'd like to get for it, and let them talk you down to want you wanna get.

Worst case is you don't sell it, and you throw in a high horse v-8 with stout axles, big gummies, and pound the nuts of it in the mud holes lol.

So since it does need quite a bit of work I could probly start about 2 and go down from there? I just wanna get somethin out of it so I can buy stuff for my xj or put injectors in my cummins :/ can't say I'm ready to drop 2500 on 6 sticks of metal tho

I'd check your local Craigslist to see what similar Jeeps are going for, to better determine an obtainable yet fair asking price for your Jeep.

And when you go to change the fire sticks in the mighty Cummins, it would be a VERY wise decision to change out the fuel transfer tubes at the same time. The transfer tubes seal against the injector, and once removed they rarely seat properly against a different injector. Possibly causing an internal leak that causes poor performance and longer harder starts. The transfer tubes also contain a fine (2 micron) mesh inside to help keep trash out of the injectors, that cannot be cleaned with solvents. They run about $80 a piece, however it is cheap insurance that you won't ruin your new injectors.

I also strongly suggest replacing your fuel filter as well. And take the time to MAKE sure there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO tiny metal filings in the filter housing itself. Again cheap insurance for the new sticks.

Sorry for the long winded response, however I've changed so many injectors in the common rail Cummins trucks, and have learned many tricks along the way. Ans I've seen many "cheapskate" customers destroy their new injectors within about 3k miles because they didn't wanna pay the little extra for the cleaning and small parts that required (by me at least) when changing the injectors.
