1986 cj7 laredo question

replaced my tach in the jeep old one never worked the new one works it is pretty much orignal jeep only thing not orignal is I put EFI the tach never goes over 2 thousand rpms in any gear it has a 5 speed my question is what is normal rpm for this year thanks for any information

I would suggest connecting the tachometer that comes with one of those engine diagnostic meters and make a comparison. Always good to get a second opinion.

What did the new tack come out of.
Sounds like a 4 cly tach.
