I came across this lift kit for $279.99 (~$103.80 for shipping...) and I wonder if anyone has bought one and what they thought. Seems quite economical for springs, bushings, and u-bolts.

1976 - 1986 Jeep CJ 2-1/2" Lift Kit

Seem like a good idea?

I don't know anyone that has used General Spring, so if you get them let us know how they are.

Me either, and that combined with the low price concerns me

Somebody over on the Scrambler site bought them and was quite pleased with them. I'll have to look around and find the thread.....

Nor have I ever heard of them. I would be very leery of not only the price but the lack of pictures too. You know the saying, "when something seems to be too good to be true, it usually is".

Re: 2.5" lift for $279.99

Thanks for the input. I am skeptical as well, but I cannot imagine their springs are worse than my stock New England springs, U-bolts, and bushings. There is a reason I'm riding in a fiberglass tub upon a frame that is 95% replaced steel. I know a lot of old school guys still think a web site is a spider lives, so I can also see them not wanting to waste time posting pictures. If I can get past the atrocious shipping costs, I'll order the kit soon.

That's really not a bad price to ship 4 springs. I had to pay $75 to ship 2.

Interesting. :D

We'll be waiting for a report from you TSJeep.

Looks like some good pricing and being in Kansas I'm not thinking their not a scam.

Here's the link on the thread I was talking about.

Here is the reply I got from the sales rep. at general spring when I asked for included parts and pictures:

It does include all of those parts. I don’t have any here in Kansas City so I don’t have a picture because the springs and u bolts ship out of Michigan. The kit also comes with poly bushings but I don’t like the ones which come with the kit so I actually send out Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings from here in Kansas City. Honestly, I have only sold 14 of these kits in the last 12 months so there’s probably no reviews on them but dig around and you may find some reviews out there. With that being said I’ve had zero problems with the kits except a few complaints about the bushings which is why I send out my own now. This kit was actually designed for one of the lift kit companies probably about 10 – 15 years ago and they brought in thousands of these kits and my guess is the price is so low because once they’re gone they probably won’t order any more of them because they take up a lot of room. You can try it out and if for whatever reason you’re not happy let me know but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the price and product. Let me know and if you have any questions feel free to email or call us.

I plan to order a set in the next couple of weeks, but my CJ decided to sprout a cute little head gasket issue, sprouting a leak on the exterior of the engine and turning my oil into the milky milky cocoa puffs. I'll take pictures and review the install of the springs once I order. Thanks for CJ8 review too.

They have a good site, I've never seen their springs in a jeep. However I have seen them under my f-350 they have only been there for 6 months so I can only tell you they hold fire wood up ok. We have a local parts yard that sells them and I haven't heard any complaints. But again not in a jeep.
