Well, I am still adding parts to the pile for the eventual rebuild of my Jeep and I think I came across a gem but I want some opinions. We were getting some new tires for my buddies Ramcharger at the local 4x4 shop and he had a YJ on the lift that he was putting a 6 in. kit on so I asked him about the springs that he took off. He said they were a 2.5 in. Superlift kit that he put on about a year ago and he would sell me the whole works for $250.00. If I get it, I plan on fabbing the shackles and mounts myself. Does this sound like a good deal and do you see and hangups getting these springs to work on my C.J? Any and all opinions are appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Bush

Sounds like a deal to me.
I've had my 4" superlift (cj)springs for 7 years now and they are doing great.

It's a very common upgrade now and some companies like Rubicon Express even sell coversion shackle for the lifts.

It is worth it, esp at that price. You also don't need to fab most of the stuff, like Kane said. This is a common swap, and prices aren't too bad for the kits.

Well, I got the springs and he threw in the heavy duty greaseable shackles off the Y.J. for $50. We have a Jeep rental place in town that always has a few wrecked Y.J.s sitting around so I'm gonna see if I can get the hangers and plates from them for a reasonable price. Iv'e gotta check my brake lines, but the only other thing I think I need ( besides time ) are shocks.

If my parts pile gets much bigger I'm gonna have to name it and start buying it beer.:chug:

Keep us posted on the spring swap i'll be curious to know how you like the finished product! Are you going to reverse the shackles while your at it?

No, the shackle reversal seems to have it's own can of worms to deal with, so I'll stick to the spring swap for now. Should have it done around Christmas.

Ha LOL!! Yeah we all could use some Free stuff for Cmas!! My ? is if you say a 2.5" lift- does that translate to a spring over with 2.5 or how is it 5" more because its a soa?

Running YJ 2.5 OME on mine. Did the MORE shackle reverse. Do it all at the same time if you want the SR. Drive shaft length may change.:)

Spring plate width may change too.

I could send closeup pics if you want.

Moving the springs to the top of the axle will net you around 5.5" by itself. Add the 2.5" springs, and you now have around 8" of lift total

That is a very good deal. You saved some money vs. buying new thats for sure. Plus shipping to hawaii. I'm located on Oahu right now and know all about that. If your riding the road I'm not a fan of the spring overs. Shackle reverse gives a much better ride on the road. Good luck to you.

I agree with you on the shackle reversal.
Now get to work, Christmas is almost here. :D

Looks like I'm getting the remaining parts for Christmas, the wait is already killing me, but wait I shall. ARGH!
