283 SBC bolt-on to replace Iron Duke?

Hi Guys. 1980 CJ5 Iron Duke, S4 tranny. Can a Chevy 283 bolt right on to the bell housing and replace the Iron Duke? I've read that SBC's will bolt right on. I know these trannys are weak but this 283 just fell into my lap. I'd like to do a swap.

Can't answer your ??. But was wondering if that 283 has the bosses for side motor mounts. The early ones didn't and you had to use a saddle mount across front of engine.This is a real problem with ,steering,p/s pump,etc. .Had one in a early cj and the motor mount was always a pita.
Don't under estimate the HP potential either. mike
