304-360 harmonic balancers

What is the difference between the AMC 304 & 360 balancer? Bought the Dorman Balancer for a 360, went to put it on and it was too sloppy, about .012 to much play. Any one else had this issue? Have got the original balancer, but got mixed up with 2 other balancers from a AMC 304 , any way to tell the difference? Any help would be appreciated...

This web sight has pictures of the AMC 304 ,360,390 and 401 harmonic balancers. They are balanced different for each engine type.
My 401, I found had a AMC 304 balancer on it from PO. I replaced it with a 401 balancer from this web sight. A bunch of vibration went away with the right balancer on. A 360 balancer is balanced totally different from a AMC 304 . They all fit the other engine sizes, but they are engine size specific.

Purple is right. AMC V-8's are externally balanced and specific to the ci model you have.
