I'm currently on 33x10.5s on a 4.5" BDS.

Jeep's very top heavy, put it on it's side once, overall not happy.

Thinking about going to about a 1" total lift in custom 12 leaf springs, metalcloak front fenders and bump stopping the rear to fit 35s.

Any thoughts on this?

Thats going to hard to do, you will be looking at some sawz all work on the rear at minimum. I think JP magazine did a YJ or a TJ with big tires and no lift might be worth looking at their work to see what you would be in for

Why the 35" tires? Looks? Trail ride? Rock climbing? With that setup you are going to have a very Limited amount of travel. OK for the street, not OK for true 4 wheeling. Could possible work for high speed small bump off-road driving, but most of them have more travel than what you'll end up with. Be sure to use some good bump stops at the right height. Maybe even some drop limiters.

Do you have fillings in your teeth?
If you do, they will all fall out if you go with a 12 pack leaf set.
If you want to stay low,
I would recommend 2.5 yj springs
Bump stops to limit your up travel, yj springs will give you enough drop.
Trim your rear fender wells where needed.
Your good to go on the front with metalcloak fenders

35x13.5 BFG Krawlers. 2" taller shackle for 1" lift, on stock CJ springs. Worn out CJ springs. And self clearancing rust on the rear!

Love my Metalcloak's. I could run 37" on the front with the clearance these give me

Nice ride...... now, if you guys will excuse me, I'll just be steppin out to the garage so as to pitch my driving lights in the trash....... I seem to be suffering from "ALE". Auxiliary Light Envy. LOL :chug:

LOL!! Disclaimer, both lights were harmed in the running of this trail.

I think you only really got one answer. A shackle lift on the rear would help. Front looks pretty good. Make sure you have good bump stops in place. You might also want to consider a limiting strap or something similar. Finally you can cut some of the rear wheel sheet metal. Just remember that is a tough thing to replace on a body. It will also make the look of you Jeep different. Maybe try coil over shocks. A lot of little things could make a difference.
