i'm putting the pieces together to do the 4.0 head swap and can't find an aftermarket aluminum valve cover that doesnt say "4.0" on it. i have the clifford 6=8 valve cover now that i'm very upset about losing in the head swap. does anyone know of an aftermarket aluminum 4.0 cover without the "4.0" ?

How about an OEM? $15 at the pick n pull, half an hour with a wire wheel and clear coat. Cleaning the old oil off the inside took an hour or so.

Not the best pic's but you should get the idea. They are mostly on XJ 4.0's.

i like that idea. i didnt know they had aluminum from factory, figured they were steel or even that plastic POS. i'm on the hunt now.

btw, that engine looks great. nice work man. can't wait to pull mine and clean it up.:notworthy:

now I am tempted to pull my engine and clean it all up, Looks awesome

So why do you not want the 4.0 on a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? Then when you do decide to open your hood to a few worthy select few, they will realize you aren't just telling stories!

I had to give up a Clifford too, but the power increase is well worth it.

Nice idea of using a polished stock, but just not the bling of a ribbed coasted aftermarket. :D

It's got ribs.:) No crinkle paint, but no reason it can't be painted.

One less rib than the ones from 4WD, and no 4.0.

Both are aluminium, only difference I can see is one less rib and no 4.0. And no stripping required if you want to paint it to match whatever on the CJ.
