Hello. Tried the search function but nothing happens.

Wondering what ratio to go with. I have a complete AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l -1 T-18 with TC intact and correct drive shafts. Wanting the 6.32-, but........?

Anyone have experience with both? My 79 CJ5 had the 6.32 so know what that was like.

Joe.

Biggest question is, how do you plan to use it? How big of tire are you running? What gear ratio ? Mostly street and very few rocks, 4-1 is fine.

354s, 31 inch tires. Highway, rough rocky roads round here. Want to crawl slow over the rough stuff.

6.32/1;)

Sounds like a 6-1 would be better, upgrading the Transfer Case gearing would give a bit more too

I agree. My T-150 is 2.99. 4-1 won't give me what I want. Lower but not low enough. Had a chance to pick up a complete CJ for cheap. Had the four speed so jumped on it. My luck it has the rare? 4-1 box. I got a lot of spare parts now.

My 4/1 t'case was a great investment.
No regrets........:chug:

Got a AMC T-18 6-1 at the shop now getting a Ford input shaft installed. Hopefully will have it in the Jeep before snow flies.
