1986 jeep cj7 with a 258 4.2 bored 30 over. 4 inch suspension lift and 1 inch body lift. When completely done it will be camo wrapped and have bumpers,winch,33s or 35s,a double outlet header and performance carbeurator.
Does anyone have pictures of jeeps with 4 inches of lift, And what are the ups and downs of a four inch lift.

The red Jeep is Tinmedics Jeep with a 4" lift and 33s next to mine that is stock with 31s

Body or suspension lift? I had a 3" body plus 1" extra from the shackles. During my frame replacement and resto I went to a 4" suspension. Both were diferent in terms of the ride.

I don't think you should go more than 1" body and 1" shackle lift.

I agree. When the frame was replaced i replaced everything below the body (except axles) and went to the BDS 4" suspension.

My profile pic is with the body lift and this is the BDS suspension lift.20120919_181959.jpg

The ups would be increased ground and breakover angle clearance and being able to use up to a 35" tire.

I didn't have any neg. effects. But I did a tie-rod and draglink flip, and use stock lenght shackles.
The pos. more ground clearance.
Almost forgot I also have a 1" body lift.
here's mine on 33's.

Thats a very nice looking Jeep :notworthy:

Thank you mtnwhlr. :chug: It is my second child next to the 3 year old in both pics ( who may be the only one that loves it more than me). Sure is great to see his eyes light up when I pull it out of the garage. Starting him young about the finer things in life. :)

it will be a suspension lift

Hello

Dumb question: How do you measure how much lift a jeep has?

Thx

Stabilizers, springs, base kit and shocks set me back 1400 - 1500. Got it locally through a 4x4 shop here in town.

With it you will probably have to get a few pieces in extended lenght sizes. Fuel fill hose, steering shaft, etc. Keep that in mind.

Well worth it.

That's awesome! I can't keep my kids out either. Tried to explain to them that there is no insurance on it in the winter, but their not having any of it!

You can measure the distance from the ground to your skid plate. The stock tires were about 30" and the distance between ground and skid plate was 10.2". The arc of a 2.5" spring pack is noticeably different than a 4". Look at the shackle. Factory shackle was 5.75" center to center.

Am I missing anything?

Factory shackle is 3" bolt to bolt ;)
