Get some cake at the museum!
Actually I'm not sure if there will be any cake or not, but it looks like there will be some very cool Jeep 70th birthday events at the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills Michigan this summer. I noticed this in the Detroit Free Press website.
The Chrysler museum will hold two events in July to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Jeep.
The July dates coincide with the July 15, 1941, date the U.S. Army signed the contract that made Willys-Overland the lead producer of the military reconnaissance vehicle:
• 70 Years of Jeep Cruise Night 5:30--8:30 p.m. July 13. Jeeps will be featured in the museum's parking lot.
• 70 Years of Jeep Heritage 9:30 a.m.--noon July 16. Jeep history buff and Chrysler retiree Larry Johnson will explore the vehicle's enduring popularity. Part of the museum's 2011 Lecture/Workshop Series.
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is open 10 a.m.--5 p.m. Tuesday-- Saturday and noon--5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $8, $7 for seniors (62 and older) and $4 for 6- to 12-year-olds. Children 5 and younger free; group rates are available. Download two-for-one admission coupons at wpchrysler museum.org .
The museum is in the Chrysler complex at exit 78 on I-75 in Auburn Hills.
