Any info on swaping power steering into a 71' CJ5 . Anything would help .

I know I can do it on a 72' and newer cj , I was looking for 71' cj . Different steering set up on 71' and older cj's

Same basic principal applies.

On my '71 with the 225 V-6 I replaced everything; column to tierod ends. I used the Advanced Adapters catalog to get me started. Here's what I used:
- 30" Ididit tilt column; flashers on column, ignition switch remains in the dash. Grant Formula GT 14" wheel; adapter kit.
- "76" box attached to frame with AA brackets; home fabbed RH frame horn to box brace. Steering shaft from bottom of column to box does NOT pass thru left motor mount. Slight notching of grill required.
- AA one piece tierod kit with rod ends.
- P/S pump bolts directly to where the original smog pump went; drive belt lines up perfectly with original crank pulley assy. Hose assy fabbed by local hyd shop.
- AA headers with Magnaflow mufflers; front of rear wheels dump (turned down tips). Lower cowl assembly significantly trimmed.
My first test drive took me directly to the alignment shop. This set-up has served me well since 1998; wheeling and daily driving! Besides belts, fluids and the annual alignment there has been zero maint required. This is not to say it can't be done differently or for less money but...
**Now for MY PERSONAL safety note: "Steering is directly related to life expectancy! Attention to detail is a must..."

Thanx , any pics. Just like to see what your headers look like , might have to change whats on it now.
