So my uncle calls me to tell me there is a guy who has a 73 CJ5 with a AMC 304 3 speed for 400 bucks complete, i really want a 5 but i really want that engine in mine and it would be simple to swap engines. So what would you guys do? and what parts are interchangable? and if i were to only keep the engine and sell the rest what are the parts worth a little bit of $?

Is it just me or have we been through this before.

thanks for the link Sasquach
But remember, we may have discussed it a hundred times, but new members can think it is the first time, we need to direct them to a place to get info and you did a great job.
Corey, if that does not answer your questions, be a bit more specific and we will answer it for you
thanks everyone:chug:

You keep the engine, transmssion, Transfer Case , and the radiator if it's bigger than yours. The fenders & grille & hood would fit yours fine, if you like 'em better than the ones you have. Keep the shifters & boots & clutch linkage.

You sell off the rest of the sheet metal and the axles and the fuel tank and everything from the interior - dash, seats, steering wheel, pedal cluster, roll bar, none of that fits your '7. If the frame's decent (doubtful at $400, but possible), you could sell it as a rolling frame. Easier to transport that way.

Parted out like that, you could probably get the $400 back... but it takes time & marketing & storage space.

I believe so, and then there is my personal favorite "How much lift do I need to run XXX inch tires?"

Does the AMC 304 run??

Well i probably should had updated this yesterday after i found out, the guy wants 350-400 for the Engine and Bellhousing and radiator and starter and everything else i will need to bolt it in mine. He wants 650 for the whole thing, and my uncle didnt know but from what the guy told him the AMC 304 runs.
