Ok..Jumping in here because I need lift kit answers too. I have a 74 CJ5 and want to go up 2.5" also. Been looking at rough Country (understanding it's stiffer than others). I am on somewhat of a budget so going with the higher end kits wont work for me.
I dont want to go with only a shackle lift due to stress on mounts and how it handles.
As far as springs...the 75 and earlier CJ5 's have 1-3\4" wide springs front and back.
ANYONE's opinions on kits you have used would be appreciated.
thanks

I have SkyJacker SoftRide springs on my '74. I am very happy with them. The ride is good and it handles well. The downside is I need to add a anti-sway bar due to body roll (partly caused by a locked rear end and worn shocks tho.)

Ok...after surfing different kits I have decided not to go with the rough country from hearing nothing but "really rough ride". I did come across a good deal on a Pro Comp 2.5" lift kit, shocks, bolts, bushings...also ordered 4 hd. greasable shackle kits and got free ship as well...ttl. 556.00 to my door. So I will give this a try. Thanks for all the input.

Nice :chug:

Please take some pics before and after, and also let me know what you think when done about the install, hidden issues, and overall opinion of the ride difference... Very interested to see / hear if you would not mind terribly

I was looking into their kits too... Which kit did you end up getting? Which shocks?

Might as well link the HD shackles too while your at it! lol

Pushy :censored: aren't I? :notworthy:

Thanks man!

Here is the shop I worked with...They are having a sale today...got total of 15% off and free ship...Jeep Parts, Jeep Accessories, Jeep Tops, Jeep Wrangler Oconee Off-road
The Pro Comp is part#K3069K with 3 series shocks
Shackles are # 18265.02
Both are for the 74 cj...when asked, the spring kit does come with the one bigger u-bolt that fits the Dana 30 front-inner-right, does not come with rear leaf shims or drop pitman being the 2.5" kit...stated as not needed but I will check drive line angle once installed. As for ride changes I never drove this jeep before teardown so anthing new will just have to be considered better.
I just welded on my upper front shock mounts and I am waiting on delivery of the frame to shackle mounts for all 4 corners...
I have a build thread so I will post any nnew changes and\or pictures there.
