And let the questions begin! New to the Jeep world, and the forum, and boy, am I lost. We are building a................, well not realy sure what it is any more! Started with a 59 CJ5 and it now has a life of its own! 59 frame was in an accident, so we are using a 1960 frame. We want to put in a locker differential, so the axles are from a 74 CJ5 (Dana 44 & Dana 30 ) Does anyone know where to get a 74 spring plate? Planning on a 2 1/2 lift, probably Skyjacker. The 1960 axles are 2 1/2" diameter and the 74 is 2 3/4". Obviously, I can't use the 1960 plates. I can make my own, but my wife and I are planning to do the Colorado trip this summer, so time is a factor. Right now there is just a bare frame sitting in my shop, (oh yes, last night we discovered that it is bent!) so any parts that I can purchase will greatly expedite the build.

Thanks for the reply CJ. The plates under the spring with the shock bolt welded to it is what I am looking for. The link you sent is for everything 1971 and older. I have these from the original 1960 axles, and they won't fit. From 72 to 75, the Dana 44 was 2 3/4" diameter instead of the older D44s 2 1/2" diameter. And the 1960 D25s were 2 1/4" diameter with one of the "U" bolts going around the differential (not sure of the diameter of this "U" bolt, but bigger than 2 3/4") instead of the 1974 D30s 2 1/2" diameter. It seems as if 72 to 75 has fallen off the edge of the earth from all the big Jeep parts suppliers. At least as far as spring plates are concerned. I could probably use the spring plates for a pre 1972 Dana 44 (2 1/2") to fit the 1974 front Dana 30 (2 1/2"), but I am still at a loss for the 2 3/4" plates I need for the 1974 rear Dana 44 .

Too far gone. The plates themselves are not too bad, but the studs are only about 1/2 their original diameter from rust.
