I recently bought a 76 CJ5 and it doesn't have a radio. I was going to wait to deal with it until I knew it was good to go mechanically. My FIL and I replaced the carb and master cylinder but everything else is in excellent shape. I've been using my bose bluetooth speaker to get by but I'd like to put a permanent system in it now that I know I don't have any major issues at this moment.

All I really need is a bluetooth capable head unit and a couple of speakers. I'd like to avoid any alterations to the dash if possible.

I found this on a quick google search. Does anybody have any experience with them? Are they worth the money?

As far as speakers go, am I pretty Limited to the original dash mounted speaker setup or is there another option other than roll bar or back seat?

Thanks for the help.

Are you wanting to keep an all original look? If not, you can look into mounting a BT headunit in a center console. If you don't have a console, there are ones made specifically for a stereo. Although by the time you buy the console and a cheaper stereo, you probably could have bought the one one you linked.

For the speakers, check out some of the speaker pods at Quadratec (or similar Jeep retailer). I know a couple guys with a double speaker pod on the Transmission hump (between the shifter and firewall and they like them. I think they hold a pair of 5 1/4" speakers. Not original looking, but very clean and no cutting the body (I assume a few bolts/screws through the floor to secure. You can also run 6x9s in boxes on the rear fenderwell and they do pretty good.

I'd like to keep the dash as original as possible although the center console mount doesn't sound like a bad idea. I saw the quadratec Transmission hump speakers you mentioned, but I don't think they'll fit in mine. My 4wd shift is further forward than the pictures on their site show.
