first time on . i have a 76 cj AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l stock not for hyway use at all . like to ask if i can lift jeep how much and how to do it. know a lot about welding . shoud i build new shalkes and how long before a need longer drive shafts. can i build new mounts for springs. cuting old ones off and welding new ones on. i get hung up all the time:( guys dont mine but. looking for home made prints? Good time with no $$$$.
we do trail and mud riding . thanks for any feed back.

You can lift it with longer shackles, but best to do it with springs.

3/4" is popular, but 3/4" equals a 1-1/2" longer shackle. Around 4-1/2" between bolt centers.

Taller frame spring mounts can be made, but too much will stress the frame and possibly cause cracking.

The drive shaft angles need to be close to being equal. Or U-joints will start to fail. 4" lifts usually can use the stock drive shaft lengths. Double Cardan drive shafts require rotating the rear pinion up, pointing at the tranny output shaft.

Lots of ways to mess up. . .

Thanks, i think i will keep looking for springs and lifts from junk yards.look for taller tires too. shes junk but dont want to kill it.

What do you mean by 3/4"? I'm asking because I'm wrestling with either buying OEM springs and making shackles, or just eating the cost for a 2.5 to 4" lift.

Any cheap sources out there for cheap OEM springs? Don't care about ride quality, just cost.

Don't do this
