Hey all,

new to the forum, been lurking for a while and deciding to finally make a post. This is the first Jeep I have owned. My father in law found this 1977 CJ5 and told me about it. I purchased the Jeep at a great price and started the build from there.

The day we picked the Jeep up...

Not sure why the images come out upside down no matter what I do?!?

Anyways its pretty much rust free. This was the day we got it into the garage. Unsure of the condition of the engine we took it out and swapped in a spare AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l that we knew was good top to bottom. For good measure we replaced every gasket prior to install. At the same time took the Transmission and Transfer Case out, cleaned and replaced leaking gaskets.

At this time I decided to clean the engine bay and put a nice coat of good ole spray paint to clean it up....

Before

After

So then the engine got painted, mounted with new fuel pump, water pump, thermostat, housing, all new gaskets, new aluminum valve cover, oil pan, oil pump.

After everything has dried its time to install tranny, Transfer Case and engine :D

At this point its finally time to add all the extras...

Clifford racing intake, clifford racing header, Motorcraft 2100 series 2 barrel carb, aluminum radiator.

The jeep runs and drives great!!!

The only things that have had to been taken care of so far is replaced leaking wheel cylinders in the rear, rebuilt carb after 2 weeks of driving as the accelerator pump blew out. Replaced leaking pinion seal on rear end.

Just added some 33x12.50-15 Firestone Destination AT's on 15x10 wheels.

Soon to come mods....
