Guys.
Is there any way to move my brake pedal closer to the floor board next to the gas pedal, and clutch. It's annoying to have the pedal up, almost touching my seat. Manual brake's in the 78 CJ5 .
Thanks.

Can you shorten the rod that goes between the pedal and the master cylinder?
Or maybe relocate how the rod attaches to the pedal? Like for instance if you welded (very solidly) a tab to the pedal that stuck out towards the dash board with the appropriate sized hole drilled in it for the brake rod. That way with the rod hooked up the pedal will be closer to the floor.

I was just reading in JEEP CJ Rebuilder's Manual Says to adjust rod length. No pictures, but should be some adjustment. I don't know if it will be enough. All you can do is try.
Thanks everybody for the help. i just bought the jeep 3 days prior to coming down to brazil for work, which is where, i am currently. I had made some mental notes of little detail issues that I wanted to learn about while i was offshore. Once I get back to the states, I will definitely crawl up under the dashboard and have a look. figured I would ask and see if anybody knew exactly what to do off the top of their head. You know how an old chevy truck master cylinder reservoir will show "low" when it's time to put on new brake pads, even though you have plenty of fluid. I wander if maybe there is an adjustment on the pedal to compensate for worn shoes to give extra stroke to compensate for the wear on the shoes.. I'm completely guessing about that, because i have no idea, and am at a total loss on the whle thing...LOL. Again. Thanks for the replies.

I have a '79 CJ5 and when I bought it I had the exact same problem. The brake pedal was much higher than the clutch. A year later I had to replace the master cylinder and afterwards the pedal was at the same level as the clutch pedal.
I bet you have the same problem I did. The PO installed the wrong master cylinder. It looked like it was installed correctly. The plunger just extended out too far.
Thanks busadave.
I will definitely check into that. It's worth a try and cheap troubleshooting. Couldn't hurt to have a new master cylinder in there any ways. You wouldn't happen to have a part# handy would ya? I'll get one on order and have it waiting when I get back to the states.
