79 CJ5 Clutch Linkage

I did a search and apparently I am not good at it, or couldnt find what I needed. I have been trying to find what clutch linkage you guys are using. Mine on the 79 CJ5 is HORRIBLE! Ordering a bunch of stuff today for the build and wanted to add that on, so figured I would ask your guys thoughts on linkage kits. The Jeep will be used for 25% around town driving/75% mild wheeling.

Having good motor mounts is critical to the clutch linkage operation. The bellcrank must be pretty close to perpendicular to the frame, otherwise the end piece it rotates on can break. Plus those plastic bushings are items that can wear out. I have seen clutch linkage parts, some aftermarket at the online big box 4wd outfits like Morris, Quadratec, and 4 wheel drive hardware.

My 78 CJ5 has a ford 5.0 and the engine was not level so I leveled it and now the chain drive won't work, I've never seen this chain drive b4 and the pedal is so hard to push it bends the arm that's connected to my clutch pedal, any ideas? Any thoughts on converting to a hydraulic clutch? Thanks all!

Years ago Advance Adapters came out with a chain drive clutch linkage setup p/n 716639. You could contact them on this. This might have been designed just for engine conversions. I hear that the hydraulic clutch from a early 4 cyl. Wrangler will work quite well in a CJ. I seem to get by quite well with the oem style linkage, but it does have some aftermarket additions on it though.
