Greetings all,
I'm going to start this off by saying I'm a complete newbie. Not just to Jeeps, but general auto mechanics. I did some work on an old S10 back 7-8 years ago, but it was mostly just to keep it running while in school. This rebuild is definitely the most intensive automotive project I've ever undertaken. I'm still looking at parts going--what the heck is this??
Anyway, I got a 1979 CJ5 and probably paid too much for it because I was just anxious to get started. The tub and frame are in bad condition (especially the tub). Everything else is okay minus some seals (rear main and Transfer Case ). Overall, it looks like the mechanical aspects of things were taken care of more so than the body.
I'm in the midst of prepping for tub removal.
