Might as well get my feet wet and post my project, owned a few CJ's and did a frame off on a 79 5 that I missed after selling few years ago so traded a airboat hull to a buddy who had parked this little jewel about 12 years ago do to bad gas tank and off to the races lol

Drag it home and poured some gas in the carb and lite right off :D so the plan is to get structure and running gear squared away so found a 20 gal OE tank Ebay, slapped new mounts for engine, body & tranny, pulled the A/C (to far gone), plugs, wires, belts, hoses, windshield gasket with little body work on the hood, windshield and floors, really not to much rust then had so camoclad left over from a airboat build so slapped that on it and some new flares then took it to the lease and heck ole girl ran so good brought hack to the shop to change out the tires with some 33 X 12.50 15 NTM, Easy ride (lol) Skyjackers 2.5 springs, HD shackles s0me paint work and bumper, 9000 lb winch and some lights going move the lights out to bumpers when we get the winch mounted and painted thing going textured Black so it look like my grizzley. Thanks for the looks

Been fun beating on the ole girl as I have a jet & Helicopter SHop and my stress relief to grad a hammer and beat on something,

Looks good!
Is that a Huge 500 to the right of the Jeep and Bell in the background in the second pic?

Yep we are a service center for MD500 & Agusta 109, cannot beat on those too much:D the 206 is a project we have to start soon. That 500 is about 6 months old Police Helio for all the grayer folks like me anyone remember magnum pi tv show that was a 500 as well.

Got the Skyjacker 2.5 easy ride lift installed with HD greaseable HD shackles even replaced all the sway bar bushings with new. So pretty good day after work. Got replace tires and do front bearings plus wench rear bumper never finished lol Thanks for looking

Yep I had it left over from airboat build just slapped it on, thanks for your years of service, I learned helicopters in the Army, thanks :chug:

Today time to fab up new tabs to use Smittybuild raised winch plate and rebuild rear cross member as the body mounts hole were shot, cracks everywhere and had to rebuild the body were the mounts fit they had rusted out as well, so grab up 3/16 flat plate, 2 inch angle and my son in law who is a great fab guy and aircraft mechanic to boot. Topped it off with a 9000 ln Badland winch and some new lites. Both Smittybuilt bumpers fit like a glove and now off to replace all the pinion seals and rear main seal in the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , then maybe I stop till after hunting season :D By the way the 2.5 soft ride Skyjacker springs ride real nice sure they stiff but big improvement over the flat wore out springs. Thanks for looking

Had a good evening on the jeep, dropped the pan, man the engine is clean inside, pop'd some rod caps and the rear main all bearing are good, piston skirts, cam shaft so dropped in new oil pump and replaced the rear main seal. Then replaced front axle seal, front yoke due to wear, off to do the Transfer Case and rear axle seals tomorrow then maybe get some new paint laid down, thanks for looking

Had a good week got all the seals changed, frt bearing repacked and replaced the outers bearings with good ole timkens, frt brake pads, seals in the running gear not real exicited about the backlash in the rear. Got the lights and dash panel backlighting going trim up the floor panel and little more for shifter clearance then installed the gun rack and heading to hunting camp tomorrow to play a little and check the feeders :D Time to paint next week unless I break it lol

Got my Sparten Lockers in so Time to pull some axles and lock them up, I did get the gun rack and Smittybuilt console installed so making more progress

Slight change of plans, the rear has track lock so ordered the clutches and just repair that, I know if I was doing rock crawling etc the locker be better. But I plan on changing out gears later and going to 4.10 then go with Detroit Locker so for now $80.00 clutches and put it all back together. The gears and pinion all look pretty good for suck *** 3.30 ratio lol

The one piece axles has grease fittings behind the axle flange so that is pretty cool. Not sure if it was a mod or they come that way, I have Genuine Gear Axles at least that receipt from PO dated 2000, does not show grease fittings so is that a mod, hope the axles are ok they have about 30,000 miles and splines look ok but could not find the company on the net 4WD sells them anyone know good or bad?

Great looking cj you've got there. I'm really liking the camp wrap. Keep it up! As far as the axles, I've never had any personal experience with them, but I've never heard anything bad about them. Sorry if that doesn't help much.

Thanks Scooter, got all rear axle done, bearings, seals clutches and off to the frt locker install :chug:
