OK guys chime in.I have a stock 82 CJ7 Laredo with 3.31 gears.Thinking about 2.5 suspension lift and 32x11.50 tires.Have to get a better carb than this stock piece of junk also.Any suggestions or advice.
Thanks

You might be a little high in the gears, but all in all, that would look pretty good.

That's a good choice but like CJKrawler said your gona be a little tall in the gears although if you spend any time on the highway it may be alright.

First thing I would do it fix anything that needs it before the mods. Look over the brake and steering systems to make sure you are safe. My stock brakes were toast! I had a hard time stopping in parking lots so an emergency stop would be out of the question .

I think your on the right tack with the small lift and shightly bigger tires. Now decide on what you really want in the end (crawiler, daily driver, weekend wheeler, etc) and what your budget will be.

Good advise Jay. I usually don't go there but yes get the basics right FIRST.

Your Jeep or what you want is nearly identical to what I have. Mine is a 82 CJ7 Laredo . I just bought it this summer and the only major thing I did was put a 1972 Scout rear axle in and and then regear the front and rear to 3.73. It has a 2.5 inch Procomp suspension lift on it and somebody also put a 4 inch body lift on it. It does have a Weber carb on it and 33x12.5 tires. It runs great, 3.73 is what I'd recommend for gearing. At 65 mph on the highway the rpm is around 2300-2400. I bought the Dana 44 gears used off of ebay from Anaheim gear for $65 (including shipping) and the front gears and carrier I got for free from a buddy who pulled it from a 96 or later Grand Cherokee (took a lot of work to make that fit).
My plans are to put it spring over axle and remove the body lift maybe next summer.

4" of body lift? :wtf:
I have trouble with just the thought of that.

Well as I recall the big black spacer is 3 inches and I think the red spacer is just less than an inch, maybe 1/2. Perhaps its a three inch body lift and I'm counting the the red bushings and I shouldn't be? I never thought about even ordering or buying a body lift so I haven't given it much thought.

Good steam cleaning, new brake booster and cylinder, fixed oil leaks in both chunks.New u joints this weekend and 2.5" lift kit(looking at 2.5 Pro Comp)Any suggestions, jeep is a third vehicle to be driven by my wife and myself on weekends on and off road.

Have you "nuttered" the engine yet? I haven't but they say is easy to do and helps it run a lot better.

Ive not run the Pro Comp (Pro :dung:) springs but have heard they are very stiff. Rubicon Express makes awesome kits but are $$. I have heard that BDS are also very good.
