Working on installing a new 1-1/8 inch sway bar onto my 83 CJ7 .

The existing installed spring plates do not have any stud/post for attaching the swaybar connectors to.

First off, ordered the "correct" spring plates for 75-86 CJ7 and they were too narrow for my installed YJ springs. Turns out that the YJ springs are wider.

So, I have ordered YJ spring plates.

New spring plate resting on top of existing one.

Two of the four holes line up, and I should be able to drill or mill the other two:

Can you weld the stud on the YJ plates?

I turned studs on a small lathe.

You'll love the YJ springs. :D

I don't really do welding at this point, but that may be in my future.

I believe that the existing front spring plates are actually rear YJ spring plates that don't have the swaybar stud.

The purchased front YJ plates in the above picture have the stud and are trimmed to better clear the shock absorber.

The hole is 9/16.

BTW, I am already riding on the YJ springs and I do realy like them. I am just trying to add a 1-1/8" swaybar with disconnects.
