So I pulled my Transmission today. Put a jack stand with a wood block under the oil pan for support. Even with the support my fan is now really pushing on my radiator. I’ve tried jacking up the motor in the back and nothing. Where did I go wrong.

Also is it me or is it weird that the bolts are in the bellhousing the way they are. PO swapped in this T-18

It’s you lol... no, the bolts look smaller than what should be and appear backwards. Investigate that.
I’s be more concerned with the abnormal wear on the input shaft retainer! Also the tip of the input shaft doesn’t look normal. Investigate that too.

So guide me. It seems according to the numbers and the input shaft that it’s a ford T-18 . So I’m right. The bolts should not be facing that way. As for the input shaft I’m confused. How does it not look normal? And is there any place that you’d recommend I’d investigate?

And I’m sorry. But I’m not too familiar with the input shaft retainer. Which part is that?

Put that jack as far to the back of the engine, as you can.

Ok. Did some research and the bellhousing is stock. And the block plate IS correct. Still confused why I see spots for seven bolts. But not enough spots to install bolts on the bellhousing. Still have to figure out the whole ford T-18 .

The tip of the input shaft looks “odd” in the photo... as if possibly modified by hand.
The retainer is the flanged tube around the input shaft. If you look at the front edge it appears to have some severe and abnormal wear... like the pressure plate was grinding on it somehow.

Thank god. I feel much better now. Now I just gotta figure out the bellhousing thing. It’s the bellhousing off the stock Transmission . I count seven holes for bolts on the bellhousing but only see five spots on the block.

I also saw your retainer and thought the same thing. Having just gone through a Transmission rebuild, I'd hate for you to not get this right before you move on. The retainer looks okay, there's a little pitting, but nothing you need to go freak out about; if you feel like doing it, a new retainer is about $25, but you'd want to replace the seal inside of it if you removed it, again nothing huge, but where I am concerned for you is in your photo, the splines on the clutch shaft where they come out of the retainer look like they've been worn.

Drop a few more photos from some different angles so the experts on this site (I am not including myself, they're all way smarter than me) can weigh in.

Cheers!

I went out and took some brake clean to try and clean things up a bit.

Look closely at the bell housing. Two of the holes should tapped for the access cover.

Also, 2 more of the holes are for the starter. If I remember correctly, there are 5 bolts holding a T-18 in. 2 at the top, 2 on the drivers side, and one on the passenger side.

MUCH better! Both areas look great now!
That was really strange. Compare the new pics to the old!
Anyway address the bolt issue and I think you are good to go.
The bell housing is aluminum so the threads aren’t all that strong compared to cast iron. Some idiot could have messed them up.
You might be able to repair them with threaded inserts such as “Helicoil” brand. Not only do they work great, they are actually stronger than original.
If that fails you “might” be able to drill & tap for a larger bolt.
I’d at least try before replacing it!
